Rock Paper Scissors

A side project to showcase the design process, this simple game of Rock, Paper, Scissors is translated into a mobile game comprising PvP gameplay and featuring a meta-game to lengthen/add to the experience beyond that of a single ‘game-by-game’ experience. Players will have a profile, showcasing stats, and the ability to use chat messaging with opponents.

Research

I researched games on desktop and mobile and found that a lot of the games have similar features such as player vs player or computer, countdown timer, best of 3 or 5 rounds and score tables showcasing wins, losses and streaks. Other features include chat, leaderboards, profiles, gamification and monetisation.

User Flow

The user flow was created breaking down the different interfaces the developers would need to build specifically for the game part of the journey.

Visual Design

Following on from the wireframes, I then started to put together some visual representations of the final product bringing the UI to life, introducing colours and font type.

Branding

For the colour, I’ve brought in bright red in the logo to complement the cheery yellow and regal navy, making the game feel fun and bright, yet premium. For the typography I have used a font with curved corners to feel fresh, fun, and easy to read.
